Featuring the Pantone colors of the Rainbow Flag, this ceramic mug is a great way to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride every day. The Rainbow Flag was first unfurled at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade on June 25, in the year it was designed, 1978. This original version of the flag was made up of eight colors, each with its own meaning: pink (sex), red (life), orange (healing), yellow (sunlight), green (nature), turquoise (magic), blue (serenity) and purple (spirit).
After the assassination of gay San Francisco City Supervisor Harvey Milk in 1978, demand for the Rainbow Flag soared while at the same time, hot-pink fabric became increasingly unavailable. The pink stripe was dropped from the design of the flag and then in the following year, the turquoise stripe was removed because it was found that the flag hung better with an even number of stripes.
Pantone will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of each mug to Copenhagen Pride, a Danish LGBTQ+ organization that is in charge of Copenhagen's Pride parade and 100 events held throughout a week every August. The Pantone Pride Ceramic Mug holds 13oz and is dishwasher-safe.
