Crafted entirely from clear and colored cast acrylic, Adam Borut's backgammon game features orange and blue inlaid triangles with matching game chips and die cups. The inlay is sandwiched between layers of clear acrylic, creating a smooth playing surface and enhancing the visual depth of the game board.
Since Adam Borut began working with acrylic, he has dreamt of making an inlaid backgammon game that would bring together great design with exceptional gameplay. Backgammon holds a special place in Adam's family—it was the first board game he learned to play as a child, the first his children learned, and it’s always the first game to appear at family gatherings and the last to be set aside.
To preserve the beauty and clarity of the acrylic, Adam uses no glues or adhesives in making the game; it is entirely friction-joined. This is a challenging process, as cast acrylic can vary up to 15% in thickness. Adam cuts pieces and builds each game progressively to ensure every component fits together securely.
