In 1927, Wright designed a series of twelve monthly covers based on seasonal themes for Liberty magazine. When submitted, they were judged to be too avant-garde for the time but would become the basis for later interpretations executed in diverse media. Each design is an example of Wright's practice using the tools of his trade. This design is a detail from the drawing, December Gifts, depicting festive holiday gifts with ribbon and bows abstracted to striking geometric shapes. Water resistant to 30 meters.
