This unique exhibition poster is double-sided and features both Study of an Orchid, 1872 by Martin Johnson Heade (vertical) and View of Yosemite Valley, 1865 by Thomas Hill (horizontal).
The vertical side includes the words of Jasper Francis Cropsey: "Have you ever reclined upon some gentle slope, / some hillside in a beautiful country / with your eyes half closed / and your mind away from care, / dreaming of...the lovely and beautiful / in nature and art?" The text by Washington Irving on the horizontal side reads: "Every Change of Season, / every change of weather, / indeed every hour of the day, / produces some change in the magic hues."
The poster was created in conjunction with the Museum's feature exhibition Nature & The American Vision: The Hudson River School on view February 28- May 8, 2016.
